Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love is preparing to request a trade this offseason if he remains behind Aaron Rodgers in the pecking order, according to Packers insider Jordan Wilde.
Love has been 39-year-old Rodgers' backup since he was drafted 26th overall by the Packers during the 2020 NFL Draft, and it appears his patience is now wearing thin.

It would not be the first time the Packers have had to deal with controversy at the QB position during the Rodgers/Love era, as they recently spent the offseason on edge waiting for Rodgers to decide if he would return to the team, as a result of his rocky relationship with management.
In the limited action he has seen during his time as Rodgers' backup Love has completed 48 of 80 passes for 597 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
When subbed into a game this year against the Eagles, Love showed enough reason to believe that he is finally ready for a larger role than carrying a clipboard for one of the NFL's most dominant players at the position after he threw for 113 yards and one touchdown, but still lost the game 40-33.

Seeing as though Rodgers still has multiple years left on the massive contract extension that he signed in March it is highly unlikely that the team would not start him again next season, unless he decides to retire or demands - and is granted - a trade.
The Packers GM did, however, tell reporters this year that the team does intend to pick up the fifth-year option in Love's contract.
'We're really pleased with his progression, and what he's been able to do,' Brian Gutekunst said about Love. 
'I think it would be really good for him, the growth that you need to go through. Seeing things for the first time. Making the mistakes that you need to make. But I think from our end of it, we've seen what we need to see.' 
If Green Bay were indeed to pick up Love's fifth-year option it would come at the cost of guaranteed $20million, which is by all means starting quarterback money. 


Many Packers fans on social media seemed to be in agreement that they would prefer to keep Jordan Love and hand him the reins on offense opposed to the final years of Rodgers career
